Rosie Runion – a principal broker for Westlake Risk, solicited the help of friends to volunteer with her for the 5th Annual Share the Road Ride. This charity event is held in memory of cyclist Phil Hernandez who was killed in 2005 while riding his bicycle in Simi Valley. Michele Neff Hernandez, Phil’s widow founded the non-profit organization Soaring Spirits International – a resource for the widowed community. Proceeds from the ride help to fund Soaring Spirits’ signature program – Camp Widow, which is a weekend long workshop featuring seminars, and other tools and resources to help those grieving rebuild their lives. While the ride is a fundraiser, it also serves as a reminder to motorists to share the road and be on the lookout for cyclists while driving.
